Supplies

Here are some basic supplies that you can use to get started.

  • Copper wire: The best wire material.
  • Bamboo skewers: These 6 inch skewers are perfect for small plants.
  • Wooden dowels: If you want something thicker for outdoors or large plants, use a dowel. Select the thickness based on your needs.
  • Basalt dust: This rock comes from volcanoes and has been shown to improve soil quality.

Tools

  • Long nose pliers: Useful for shaping wires.
  • Compass: Essential for figuring out magnetic North and for figuring out which side of a magnet is North or South.
  • Magnets: Simple magnets for any of your experiments. The hole in the middle makes them easy to secure, so you know that the right side will always face up.
